Announcement of the finalists
Culture Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches, the Center for training and consultation in crafts, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Manif d’Art, the City of Lévis and the City of Quebec are proud to unveil the finalists of the 38e edition of the Excellence Awards in arts and culture. The recipients will be revealed at the annual gala to be held on Monday November 25, 2024, from 4:30 p.m., at the Manivelle center of the Saint-Charles church in Limoilou, run by Machine de cirque.
Spotlight on excellence in arts and culture
The Awards for Excellence in Arts and Culture play a catalytic role in the promotion of arts and culture on a regional or even national scale. The fall gala holds special significance for the city’s artists, highlighting their creativity, ingenuity and creative journey. Over the past year, we have seen the strength of the cultural community in the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions: artists and organizations have, more than ever, collaborated to offer the public ingenious programs and works who were able to reach the public.
The gala, which this year has a festive format welcoming 300 guests and which will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will combine artistic performances, speeches, networking moments and awards ceremonies. This unifying and colorful event will be a true celebration of the different artistic disciplines of the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches! Thanks to the artists present and the performances that will take place during this evening which is intended to be grandiose, it goes without saying that the excellence of the artistic practices of our regions will shine brightly.
The artists who will be performing are:
Sandra Contour, singer-songwriter (accompanied on double bass)
Juliette Regnier, circus artist in an aerial strap act
Erika Hagen-Veilleux, violinist and slammer
Winner of the OSQ Foundation Prize (musical performance)
The trophies are produced this year by the artist Olivier Moisan Dufourwinner of the 2023 Videre Relève Prize in visual arts from Manif d’art. With his mastery of sculpture and painting, this artist created the 12 trophies which will be awarded in 2024.
Prize and finalist details
Twelve prizes, with grants totaling nearly $45,000, will be awarded during this gala to professional artists, organizations and cultural workers. These distinctions recognize the excellence of their work and their exceptional contribution to the cultural development of the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions.
Quebec City
The Quebec City Price aims to highlight the dynamism, quality and originality of the work of a professional cultural organization that works in the National Capital, and whose distinctive elements allowed it to stand out during its last season. The finalists are:
- Antitube
- Dance Everywhere Group
- First Act
Presented for the first time as part of the Arts and Culture Excellence Awards ceremony, the Prix art public rewards the most distinguished work of public art over the past year. The finalists are:
- Laurent Gagnon for The enchanted forest at the Pointe-de-Sainte-Foy Community Center
- Pierre&Marie for The outline of our memories at the Lebourgneuf Seniors and Alternative Home
City of Lévis
The Price City of Lévis aims to highlight the dynamism, quality and originality of the work of a professional cultural organization that works in Lévis and of which one or more distinctive elements allowed it to stand out during the previous artistic season. The finalists are:
- Cultural space of the Saint-Nicolas district
- Avant-Stage Broadcast, Old Post Office
- The Solidartis School
Council of Arts and Letters of Quebec
The CALQ Prize – Artist of the yearis given to an artist or writer to highlight the dynamism of their career and the excellence of their recent achievements. Two prizes are awarded, respectively in Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches.
In Capitale-Nationale, the finalists are :
- Charles-Frédérick Ouellet
- Alan Lake
- Valérie Forgues
In Chaudière-Appalaches, the finalists are :
- Arleen Thibault
- Vincent Lambert
- Emilie Clepper
Training and consultation center in artistic professions
(jointly with the Maison des métiers d’art de Québec, the National Violin Making School, the Quebec Jewelry School and the Institut Québécois d’ébénisterie)
The Emerging Crafts Prize rewards a craftsman with 10 years or less of practice from the Quebec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions for the exceptional quality of their work. The finalists are:
- Etienne Chassé
- Caroline Dubois
- Catherine Valois
The Distinction Prize in Artistic Crafts is awarded to an artist or craftsman with 10 years or more of experience in the Quebec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions who, over the last three years, has distinguished himself by a significant contribution in the arts or by having participated in a significant artistic event (exhibition, symposium, conference, research and creation, etc.) at the national or international level. The recipient will be known when the gala is broadcast.
Art demonstration
The Videre Relève Prize in Visual Arts is granted to an emerging artist with less than 7 years of practice, whose recent exhibition stood out from the entire artistic program of the season, in the Quebec region. The finalists are:
- Sarah Toung Ondo
- Danielle Cormier
- Jean Michel René
The Videre Creation Prize in visual arts is awarded to an artist with 7 years of practice or more, whose recent exhibition stood out from the entire artistic program of the season, in the Quebec region. The finalists are:
- Eve Cadieux
- Magali Hébert-Huot
- Bill Vincent
The Videre Prize Recognition in visual arts is awarded to an artist with more than 20 years of practice, who has distinguished himself for the excellence, originality and remarkable quality of his works; it crowns the career of a local artist. The recipient will be announced during the awards ceremony.
Culture Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches
The costs Professional succession in Capitale-Nationale et Professional succession in Chaudière-Appalaches aim to recognize an artist, an author, a craftsman or an independent worker from the cultural sector from the next generation of professionals who stands out for the dynamism of their career as well as by the quality of its achievements, and which wishes to continue to develop in the territories served by CCNCA.
In Capitale-Nationale, the finalists are:

In Chaudière-Appalaches, the finalists are:
