Update 4 Star Wars Outlaws: combat, stealth, controls… Ubisoft promises improvements | Xbox

Although Star Wars Outlaws has so far sold much less than hoped by Ubisoft management, Massive Entertainment is not abandoning its latest baby. After receiving three updates, Ubisoft has just announced that a new creative director has been assigned to the project, also an opportunity to present the outlines of the near future of Star Wars Outlaws.

The next Star Wars Outlaws update continues to reveal itself

As the new creative director on the project, Drew Rechner explains that he wants to offer fans “the best possible Star Wars experience”, in particular by relying on player feedback. Thus, he replaces Julian Gerighty in the role of creative director, who can now focus on The Division franchise as executive producer of the license. Note that this change of project directly after the launch had been planned since last year already.

Coming back to Star Wars Outlaws, the studio collects all kinds of data, whether it comes from crash reports, Reddit, Discord, or even YouTube. While the feedback has helped shape the game's first three updates, largely focused on fixing some of the biggest issues, there's still a lot of work to be done.

Thus, for update 1.4 expected for November 21, Massive is focusing on three main points:

  • The fight : The studio sees a real opportunity to add more depth and excitement to the experience, rewarding tactics and precision more
  • Stealth : Massive does not just want to improve the readability and consistency of enemy detection, but also to give the choice of how to approach each encounter
  • Character controls : Developers want to improve the reliability of cover, increase the responsiveness of climbing and crouching, and generally improve the consistency of controls

More details will be given in the coming weeks, until update 1.4 is deployed on November 21. It is also on this same date that the game will launch on Steam and the very first expansion, Wild Card, will debut. In this DLC, Kay and Nix will have to infiltrate a high-level Sabacc tournament where they will face the legendary Lando Calrissian.

Note that when Massive revealed the roadmap for the game, it was specified that additional free contracts will be integrated as part of this update.

In the meantime, you can enjoy the title on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. It is of course possible to play it via the Ubisoft + subscription for €17.99 per month.
