The architecture of the district, designed by the Gauche-Mur-Dupacq firm in collaboration with the A6A agency, is intended to be exemplary in environmental terms. The buildings, built around a central alley, rise two to four floors and feature wooden frames, bioclimatic structures and sustainable materials. This project benefits from the support of Ademe, as part of the experimentation of Positive Energy and Carbon Reduction (E + C-) districts, aimed at reducing the carbon footprint.
At the same time, the city is preparing to connect this new district to a wood heat network currently being deployed, underlining its commitment to decarbonization. The mayor of Bayonne, Jean-René Etchegaray, recalls the importance of this operation which contributes to accessibility to housing for local residents, with nearly 84% of potential buyers coming from the Basque Country and Landes, and a third from 'among them aged under 30.
