“This ceremony, which consists of taking command officially in front of the authorities, elected officials and partners of the sector, constitutes a significant event in the career of a gendarme,” estimates squadron leader Julie Parent, who commands the company. of gendarmerie of Senlis. All the more striking when it comes to the first commandment. »

This Monday, November 4, Major Etienne Houriez took command of the research brigade (BR) of Senlis during a ceremony. Etienne Houriez began his career in 2001 in a mobile gendarmerie squadron. Six years later, he joined the departmental gendarmerie of Oise, in the brigade of Crépy-en-Valois. He then became a judicial police officer… Then he already joined the Senlis BR, as chief adjutant. Transferred to the Chantilly research brigade, he finally returned to Senlis on September 1 of this year to take command of the BR.

A unit made up of 11 soldiers

Major Houriez officially takes charge of a judicial police unit made up of eleven soldiers, to which are added investigators from the brigades and the surveillance and intervention platoon (PSIG) who come to work on specific themes. We know, on this subject, that there is a unit in Senlis to combat attacks on people and a group to combat attacks on vehicles. And these units are led by investigators from the BR.

“The Senlis research brigade is a very important unit for the company,” says Julie Parent. In Senlis, we are very proud of the diversity of the files it handles and its territorial competence since it works in the 92 municipalities of the Senlis company in support of the territorial units of Crépy-en-Valois, Pont-Sainte-MaxenceSenlis and Nanteuil-le-Haudouin

Sensitive files and heavy criminal files

The permanent missions entrusted to the research brigade complement the action of territorial units in the judicial field for investigations, which presents a seriousness, a reality, a particular sensitivity. “She has her share of sensitive files and heavy criminal files,” adds the boss of the Senlis company. For example, she works on organized gang robberies, murders and aggravated rapes, child pornography cases, financial files, drug trafficking…”

The BR has a very interesting range of skills with soldiers specializing in domestic violence, handling cases involving minors, staff trained in human resources management, new technologies, monitoring economic and financial delinquency, etc.

Quality support for units

“I hope that the Senlis BR will continue to provide quality support to the units but that it will also be able to carry out initiative surveys,” emphasizes Julie Parent. It is also important to maintain good collaboration and a relationship of trust with the prosecutors, as well as with other institutional partners, whether they are gendarmerie units, the detachment of the Central Office for the Fight against Itinerant Delinquency of Senlis or the investigation services of the national police. The files are often transversal and they must not suffer from a lack of communication between the actors of the judicial police…”

Great versatility required

The experience in the departmental gendarmerie and then in the research brigade of the new boss of the Senlis BR is a huge asset even if a judicial police unit is not commanded in the same way as a territorial unit. Serving in a research brigade, within a company, requires great versatility. It is not uncommon to have to engage in the field in the middle of the night, or during the day, alongside other soldiers on an operational device.

“I wish you every success in your duties and full professional and personal development,” concluded Julie Parent this Monday to and I address to Etienne Houriez. Major, you have my complete confidence!”
