Crushing victory for the Celtics against the Hawks: Match Summary

The Celtics outscore the Hawks 123-93 in a one-sided game. Tatum and White shine while Atlanta sinks. Find out how Boston unfolded…

Last night, the Boston Celtics hosted the Atlanta Hawks for a shock at the top of the Eastern Conference. And the least we can say is that Joe Mazzulla's men made short work of their evening opponents, winning with a clear score of 123 to 93. A look back at times strong from this one-way encounter.

Jayson Tatum en mode MVP

The young Celtics prodigy was simply unplayable this night. Author of 28 points at 10/21 shooting including an impressive 6/14 at 3-points, Jayson Tatum literally martyred Atlanta's defense. But more than his points, it was his overall impact that made the difference. Also with 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, he was everywhere on the court.

Jayson was on a mission tonight. When he plays at this level, it's almost impossible to stop him.

Derrick White en feu

If Tatum was the offensive leader of the C's, he was perfectly supported by an excellent Derrick White. The combo guard coming off the bench compiled 21 points at 8/16 shooting including 4/9 from distance. His activity on both ends of the floor hurt the Hawks, with White also adding 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block. A real Swiss Army knife!

Robert Williams III dominates in the paint

Yet opposed to a client like Clint Capela, Robert Williams III delivered an XXL performance with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block and 1 interception in just 23 minutes. His athletic presence and timing posed huge problems for opposing interiors.

Atlanta is sinking

Opposite, the Hawks have completely darknever finding the solution in the face of Boston's defensive intensity. Like Trae Young who was absent (2 points to 1/10 on shooting!), the recent conference finalist missed his game. Only De'Andre Hunter and Onyeka Okongwu survived with 20 and 18 points respectively.

With this overwhelming victory, Boston consolidates its position as leader in the East with a record of 4 victories for 1 defeat. Joe Mazzulla's men seem to have found their cruising speed at the start of the season. Atlanta will have to react to avoid falling behind from the start.

Next deadline for the Celtics: a perilous trip to Memphis to face the tough Grizzlies on Wednesday. The Hawks will try to bounce back at home against the Wizards.
