Death in a fire in Roxton Pond: the coroner issues his recommendations – M105 – FM 104.9

The victim of the Roxton Pound flames last June died after inhaling smoke from the fire in his apartment.

This weekend, the coroner’s office shared the report describing the death of Cynthia Ann Driver.

A neighbor called 911 around 9:15 p.m. on June 2 after seeing smoke inside the home.

Despite the rapid response of the Roxton Pond/Ste-Cécile-de-Milton fire department and the resuscitation maneuvers performed on Ms. Driver, she was pronounced dead once she arrived at the hospital.

The coroner reiterates the importance of a working smoke alarm, especially knowing that we have on average 3 minutes to evacuate a home in the event of a fire.
