EA will kill several more games, last chance to enjoy them

Video games are not all good news; it is also the announcement of the end or closure of several games. This is the case this time with several titles from EA.

EA recently announced the permanent closure of seven additional games. January 29, 2025 will mark the end of Blood & Glory: Immortals, Contract Killer: Sniper et Deer Hunter Classicamong other titles that will disappear from the platforms. Because yes, if video games often mean the arrival of new titles, it is also sometimes the end for many of them.

EA signs the death of several games

The full list of EA games that will cease operations in January 2025 is now confirmed, mainly mobile games loved by their fans. Here is the closure schedule:

  • Rory McIlroy PGA Tour – January 16, 2025
  • The Simpsons: Tapped Out – January 24, 2025
  • Blood & Glory: Immortals – January 29, 2025
  • Contract Killer: Sniper – January 29, 2025
  • Deer Hunter Classic – January 29, 2025
  • Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores – January 29, 2025
  • Eternity Warriors 4 – January 29, 2025
  • Frontline Commando 2 – January 29, 2025
  • Frontline Commando: D-Day – January 29, 2025

For those who wish to replay or discover these titles, these last few months represent a final chance to enjoy their content. The closure of online games or “live service” has become a significant trend in the video game industry. EA, like other publishers, must sort through its online titles to best manage its resources. Indeed, maintaining servers is expensive, especially when a game's audience is low. This series of closures illustrates the evolution of gaming habits, with players often migrating to newer or more popular titles.

A mandatory strategy

Other EA games will have their servers closed before 2025. FIFA 22 will bow out today (November 4), followed by Battlefield 3 on November 7. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 4 et Battlefield: Hardline as well as NBA Live 18 will also be stopped.

For EA, these server closures are part of a strategy of constant adaptation to a changing market. Games evolve, trends change, and players increasingly seek new and more immersive experiences. By refocusing its resources, EA can better meet the expectations of its fans while optimizing its efforts on more popular titles.
