The big return of Marine Johannès on a Normandy floor will not be for this Thursday, November 7. While the French Basketball team welcomes Israel to the Palais des Sports in Caen, the former Mondeville player withdraws due to an ankle injury.

It's a missed appointment. This Thursday, November 7, the French women's basketball team faces Israel for the first international match in the history of the new Palais des Sports Caen-la-Mer. The evening promises to be a great party, but it is already a little spoiled by Marine Johannès' package.
The French basketball star injured his ankle last Tuesday with his club Mersin (Turkey) during the 80-76 victory against Bourges, one of his former teams. She was not able to recover in time to honor her 122nd selection in the blue jersey. This package is a great disappointment for her Norman fans, who have not seen her on a court in the region since February 2019, and who hoped to be able to celebrate the Calvadosian nugget.
The fullback trained in Mondeville will not be the only international to miss the Caen meeting. Her teammate in Türkiye Iliana Rupert, as well as Carla Leite (Villeneuve d'Ascq) will not take part in the Blue camp.
On the other hand, Dominique Malonga, the other Norman on the French team, is part of Jean-Aimé Toupane's call-up. The Ornaise has just spent a week in the spotlight after becoming the first French woman in history to successfully dunk in official competition.
In the absence of Johannès, the 18-year-old nugget should take all the spotlight in the Caen enclosure. From her height of 1.98 m the public should not fail to recognize the one who is compared for her size and her talent to Victor Wenbanyama.
