: the Greens almost lost the match on the green carpet

ASSE regained color against (2-0). The Greens, however, could have lost very big, the fault of yet another controversy originating from the Saint-Etienne parks.

A victory that should never have been counted? Saturday evening, ASSE performed well against Strasbourg. Olivier Dall'Oglio's men, still in the hot seat, were solid defensively.

Saint-Etienne, however, did not show its best side to Geoffroy-Guichard. After incidents noted in the stands during the – ASSE meeting, new homophobic chants were chanted by some of the Saint-Etienne kops.

ASSE still singled out by the authorities

The government has, however, been clear: all Ligue 1 matches will have to be interrupted if homophobic chants are heard. Othman Nasrou was also surprised that no measures had been taken by the representatives of French football.

“The LFP must explain to us why the Saint-Etienne – Strasbourg match was not interrupted” mentioned the Secretary of State for Citizenship and the Fight against Discrimination. Even his bell from the Minister of Sports: “Unacceptable […] Sung or not, messages that trivialize rejection and discrimination must stop” tweeted Gil Avérous.

The latter announced that he would meet the leaders of ASSE in the coming days to move forward on this thorny subject which is plaguing French football. For its part, the LFP will also have to respond to the criticism raining down on its inability to have stopped the ASSE – Strasbourg meeting. You will have understood: Yunis Abdelhamid could not have been the only big loser in the Greens' victory. Saint-Etienne could indeed have lost the match on the green carpet, and plunged further into a major crisis.

Nostalgic for Klopp's Greens and Reds, I rely on winter sports to keep smiling. In search of thrills thanks to high mountain activities, I thrill in front of my through tennis, basketball, handball, football and combat sports.
