October 30 and 31, 2024, Montréal hosted the Conference on the Human Dimension of the Ten-Point Formula for PeaceUkraine. This gathering brought together foreign ministers and high-level representatives from more than 70 countries. THE Benigncommitted to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, was represented there by Olushegun Adjadi BakariMinister of Foreign Affairs.
The conference aimed to deepen the humanitarian aspects of the war in Ukraineemphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts to support the return of prisoners of war, illegally detained civilians and deported children. The ministers present announced concrete actions in favor of the reintegration of these people into their society of origin. Justin TrudeauPrime Minister of Canadaencouraged participants to intensify efforts to end the human suffering caused by the conflict.
Bilateral meetings and strengthening of alliances
On the sidelines of the conference, the Beninese minister Olushegun Adjadi Bakari exchanged with Andrii Sybihaits Ukrainian counterpart. This meeting made it possible to strengthen ties between Benin and Ukraine, around the common objective of stability and peace. Mr. Sybiha expressed his gratitude for Benin’s support and invited Mr. Bakari to make an official visit to Ukraine.
Furthermore, Mr. Barren met Nuno SampaioSecretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
