This decision, which aims to finance a vast modernization plan, will have a direct impact on the price of plane tickets. Airlines will have to pay an additional 15 euros per departing passenger in 2027, an increase which will be passed on to prices.

Concretely, travelers should expect a gradual increase in prices. The increase in fees will be 41% from next year, then 5% in 2026, before decreasing by 7.5% in 2027. Royal Schiphol Group, the airport operator, explains this decision by necessity to invest massively in infrastructure, passenger services and working conditions. “Through these fees, Schiphol makes the necessary investments possible,” the group said.
6 billion euros will be invested by 2029 to modernize and expand the airport. Part of these funds will also be used to reduce noise pollution. Additional charges will be applied to night flights and the noisiest planes. “The fees for quieter planes will be cheaper,” specifies the operator, who even plans to ban certain types of aircraft “which make so much noise” from 2025.
