On the famous soggy Interlagos track, the Red Bull driver, starting 17e on the grid, ended a drought of more than four months without a Sunday victory and took 18 points from Norris. Ocon and Gasly offer Alpine, in great difficulty this year, its first podiums of the season.
The race had to be interrupted after an accident by the Argentinian Franco Colapinto from which he emerged unscathed.
Shortly before halfway, the Williams driver lost control of his car and violently hit a wall, tearing off the left side of his car. The pilot escaped without physical damage, but had to abandon.
The race was neutralized while the track was secured and is scheduled to resume at 2:02 p.m. local time (12:02 p.m. Eastern time) with a rolling start.
Track exit for Stroll
The start had been delayed earlier due to Lance Stroll going off the track during the formation lap.
The Aston Martin driver, 10e on the grid, went off the track, ending his race in the gravel, and therefore had to retire before the race even started. A few moments earlier, the Canadian had already made a driving error, slightly damaging his car.
