Hamas official promises new ‘bigger, deeper and more important’ October 7

Thursday October 24, 2024, Osama Hamdan, member of the Hamas political bureau living in Qatar, is interviewed on the Lebanese television channel Al-Manar, belonging to its Shiite ally Hezbollah.

During his speech, translated by MEMRI, he vowed that Israel “has no future in the region” and that the “resistance” (a word used to designate terrorist groups who make the destruction of Israel their objective) continues.

“The resistance will not allow the region to be organized according to Israel’s interests,” he said.

“As for ensuring that October 7 will not happen again, who says that in the next phase we will only think within the framework and limits of October 7? When we accomplish something and take a step forward, we don’t think about repeating that step – we think about the next step, and the next step is always bigger, deeper and more important.”

He then praised the October 7 pogrom perpetrated by Hamas in southern Israel which left nearly 1,200 dead and 251 hostages. Thus, he believed that “October 7 marked the beginning of the war of liberation – the war to eliminate the Zionist entity from the Land of Palestine.”

« The blink [le secrétaire d’État américain] – and all those who have placed their hopes in Israel – must understand that Israel has no future in the region, whatever the circumstances, and even if today it acts with tyranny and its army acts criminally , this tyranny and this criminality will only be a curse for Israel,” he assured.

In mid-October, he had already admitted that the lives of Palestinian civilians in Gaza mattered little to him, believing “that there is no sacrifice too great for Palestine”.
