It is part of the landscape of Lille (North). It is both a meeting place, an ideal landmark for people who need to meet, but also a essential figure of the neighborhoodwhich stands on the place Madeleine Caulier. But who is this young girl, embodied by this great statues who welcomes you at the exit of the Fives metro entrance ? Answer.

“The Lady of Fives”

This statue dating from 2007 has a very simple name: “ The Lady of Fives“. It is a work by Scottish artist Kenny Hunter, who honored a commission from the city. The particularity of this artist from Glasgow is that “he places his work in the history and life of the places for which he creates a work”, describes the City of Lille.

For the Capital of Flanders, he created a bronze sculpture rich in meaning. We see a young girl with a modern look, “anchored in our times. She adopts a pose sketching a dance gesture, in reference to the tradition of balls and taverns in the neighborhood,” specifies the municipality.
