In full search for sensations, Max Verstappen finished 4th in qualifying for the sprint race of the Brazilian Grand Prix this Friday. Beaten by Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri, the three-time world champion seemed annoyed after his performance. And for good reason, the latter does not at all appreciate the new surface on the Interlagos circuit.

While he only has a 47-point lead in the world championship over Lando Norris, Max Verstappen continues to be outstripped by its rival. This Friday, during qualifying for the sprint race of the Grand Prix of Brazilthe Dutchman finished 4th, and could do nothing against the frenzied pace of the McLaren.

“They redid the surface, but I think they made the circuit even more difficult to drive”

After the session, Max Verstappen seemed annoyed. In comments relayed by Next-Gen Autothe pilot Red Bull clearly pointed to the Interlagos runway surface, which recently saw a completely new surface. “From the start of the Qualifying Sprint, it seemed like we were definitely off the pace, and the car was a little difficult on the bumps. They redid the surface, but I think they made the circuit even more difficult to drive. It's extremely bumpy everywhere, which is not good for our car. In all the bumpy areas, the car jumps a lot and this costs me a lot of time, unfortunately. For tomorrow, I don’t know”admits “Super Max”.

“I don’t think we are particularly strong in the race”

The reigning world champion continues: “Normally, since we are already one lap down, I don't think we are particularly strong in the race, so we will have to see how it goes tomorrow in the Sprint. I also know that there may be some time around that can come, but maybe not for the Sprint. We'll see what happens.”.
