Country of Saint-Gilles. What results for summer transport?

This summer 2024, 6,000 travelers used the Gillo'bus, compared to 5,500 the previous summer. This represents an increase of almost 10%. The timetables had been modified to correspond with train departures and arrivals at Saint-Gilles station. Three additional rotations were offered, or fifteen per day. “Connections from trains have increased by 28% compared to last year, which confirms that the connection of the Gillo'bus to the SNCF station is absolutely essential” , explains André Coquelin, mayor of L’Aiguillon-sur-Vie and 2e vice-president of the Pays de Saint-Gilles--de-Vie agglomeration.

Hilagobus: “encouraging start”

In Saint-Hilaire, since 1is July, the Hilagobus line runs from Monday to Saturday, with a connection with the Gillo'bus at the Multiplexe aquatic stop. “With 2,250 users transported this summer, this start is encouraging, specifies Line Macoin, head of the transport department at the agglomeration. The most used stops are Espace commercial, Sion sur l'Océan and La Poste. »

Everyone at the beach: a good year, despite the weather

In summer, the Tous à la plage shuttles take you to the fine sand and sea for the towns along the retro coast. “Attendance in July and August 2024 is up 22% compared to 2023. This is largely explained by the operation on Saturday this year. »

Concretely, 1,700 people used the shuttles this summer, compared to 1,400 in 2023 and 1,000 in 2022. Users' favorite destinations: Grande Plage (60% of journeys) and the city center of Saint-Gilles (25% ).

Res'Agglo: the targeted home-work journey

Res'Agglo was launched on 1is last July and it is reserved for year-round residents of the Pays de Saint-Gilles. It operates all year round, Monday to Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The fleet is made up of three electric vehicles with nine seats each. “It is an alternative to the private car and a public transport solution for the twelve least dense municipalities that have few or no public transport lines. »

Since the launch, the service has had 210 members and 500 reservations. As a reminder, you must register and prove that you reside in the area to take it and the journey costs €3. For the moment, the most used destinations are the Saint-Gilles SNCF station, the Europe roundabout, as well as the Cour Rouge and its shopping center. The Soleil-Levant area in Givrand, where the headquarters of the Agglomeration and services are located, is also affected.

After the launch phase, Res'Agglo now wants to target home-work journeys. “We have a few, but we want to further develop this niche. We are always looking for users during peak hours, morning and evening, for home-work. This will complement occasional requests, for leisure, shopping and medical purposes. concludes Line Macoin.
