No to the establishment of a photovoltaic park in Sébécourt! Yes to preserving our natural environment!

This installation, on an area of 5 hectares, will include 8,688 panelsand will be located at the entrance to our small village.

The establishment of such a structure presents major disadvantages and nuisances:

1. Incompatibility with the rural environment

Our village is spared from any form of industrial pollution and nature is preserved. Such a project would irreparably distort our peaceful living environment.

2. Visual impact and landscape degradation

The solar park at the entrance to the village, comprising panels almost 3 meters high (or more) and technical equipment, would be visible from the road as well as from houses located nearby and rue de l'Église, altering the charm of our village.

3. Devaluation of real estate

The installation of such a park would devalue the homes and real estate of each of the inhabitants of Sébécourt. The attractiveness of our village and of new residents could be lastingly affected.

4. Negligible or non-existent local benefits:

The project does not specify the economic benefits for the town and its inhabitants, while the nuisances linked to construction and the drop in real estate value constitute very real concerns.
During the consultation last September, it was also specified that there would only be a benefit for the municipality from the apparently minimal amount of the property tax.

5. Noise pollution

Inverters which transform energy and other technical equipment generate noise pollution, sources of numerous disputes and conflicts between neighborhoods of individuals. Imagine the noise pollution that 8,688 panels could cause!

6. Fire risks

The risk of fire due to technical problems is not excluded and far from exceptional.
In 2023, fires broke out in photovoltaic solar power plants in Azur in Landes, in Saint-Antonin in , in Aghione in Corsica, etc.
The same year, the Sainte-Hélène park in was the subject of 5 fires in 7 months. In 2018, 11 hectares of vegetation went up in smoke near this park and 2 hectares in April 2023.
However, the Sébécourt park project is located on the edge of the forest!

7. Threat to biodiversity

The intense reverberation of solar panels disturbs local wildlife, particularly birds, which can confuse the bluish surfaces of the panels with a body of water and crash into it.

8. Heat island effect

Solar panels can create areas of intense heat, affecting people, animals and the environment.
In California, hundreds of birds died, charred due to extreme temperatures caused by panels reaching 420°C.

9. Uncertainty about health risks

The continuous electromagnetic fields of solar panels could have impacts on our health that are poorly understood to date.

10. Nuisances due to the construction and maintenance of the panels

The installation of this park over several months and, subsequently, the maintenance of the panels would cause significant nuisance (noise, dust, traffic, etc.) disrupting the peace and quiet of residents.

11. Soil waterproofing: a risk for the environment

If concrete foundations were necessary for the installation of this park, they would prevent the natural infiltration of water into the ground, thus increasing the risk of erosion, runoff, flooding and diminishing resources. in groundwater.

12. Risks linked to the old landfill site

The choice of installing the panels on a former waste landfill site raises questions about the risks for people working on the site, the surrounding population and for the environment in general.

13. Road safety

Reflection from signs can cause glare, increasing the risk of road accidents.

For all these reasons, we categorically reject this project and we demand its rejection.

Together we can make our voices heard and show our opposition.
