Court documents in the case of the two people who murdered Ripudaman Singh Malik in Metro Vancouver in 2022 say they were “hired and paid” to kill him.
However, the agreed statement of facts does not specify who initiated them.
Mr. Malik, a businessman, was acquitted in 2005 by a British Columbia court in connection with the Air India bombings that killed 331 people in 1985.
The statement provided by the British Columbia Prosecution Service indicates that Tanner Fox and Jose Lopez acted together to kill Mr. Malik. They used a stolen car which they set on fire after peppering the victim sitting in his Tesla with bullets on July 14, 2022.
Tanner Fox and Jose Lopez are said to have gone the day before the murder to the Surrey complex where Mr. Malik owned a business, exploring the places
for several minutes.
According to the release, the two men fired seven shots at the victim’s vehicle as he arrived at work. He was killed and people nearby had to take shelter.
Both men were initially charged with first-degree murder, but pleaded guilty last week in provincial Supreme Court to second-degree murder.
