The public prosecutor at the Rennes public prosecutor's office, Frédéric Teillet, announced the placement in pre-trial detention, Thursday October 31, 2024, of two alleged perpetrators of the attempted murder and shootings on rue de la Soif, Sunday October 6.
For the record, on the night of Saturday October 5 to Sunday October 6, “around 3:45 a.m., an individual unfavorably known to the police, notably for offenses against drug legislation, was the victim of an attempted murder by two individuals riding a scooter while he was on rue Saint-Michel.
The commando dressed in dark and hooded clothing, each armed with a handgun, fired three times at the victim, injuring him in the abdomen.
The victim was taken care of by emergency services and transported to the university hospital of Pontchaillou.
An investigation was then opened and entrusted to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (Dcos) of Rennes.
Two suspects identified
“The first investigations have confirmed the scene as described by the victim who declared having been injured, then pursued by her attackers for a dispute linked to a drug debt,” reveals Frédéric Teillet.
“Two individuals very unfavorably known to the police and the justice system” were able to be identified as the alleged perpetrators of these acts.
The investigation also made it possible to locate them and call Monday October 28, in the evening.
Placed in pre-trial detention
After their custody, the prosecution decided to refer them, Thursday, October 31, to the Rennes courthouse.
Information for “attempted murder by an organized gang, criminal association with a view to committing a crime and possession of category A weapons”, was opened.
Following their appearance before the investigating judge, “he my in exam of these counts,” continues the prosecutor.
The two men were placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention “in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution”, concludes Frédéric Teillet.
Bruno Retailleau expected
This announcement comes as the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, is expected in Rennes this Friday 1is November 2024.
The statesman will meet the population almost a week after the shooting which broke out in Maurepas on Saturday October 26, and that which occurred in Pacé, injuring a 5-year-old child in the head.
