Shooting in Poitiers: shots fired in a restaurant, a teenager shot in the head, “many minors”… How the evening degenerated

Tragic eveningHalloween. A shooting erupted this Thursday, October 31 around 10:45 p.m., causing at least five serious injuries, including one with a life-threatening prognosis. According to police sources, five individuals were seriously injured by gunfire during this shooting in Poitiersin the Couronneries district. Among them, a 15-year-old teenager is in critical condition after being hit in the head.

According to information from BFM TV, the police were warned that shots were being fired in a restaurant located in this area known to be a stronghold of drug trafficking.

“A tipping point”

Once there, the police found 5 injured people, including a young teenager who had been shot in the head and whose life-threatening prognosis was in jeopardy.

Still according to our colleagues, while the emergency services and the police were taking care of the injured, they were attacked by young people. “Little by little these facts will shift and will transform into a brawl between rival gangs”. Clashes which mobilized “very young people, many minors”.

According to the Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleauthe facts are linked to drug trafficking. “It’s linked, I confirm it to you”he insisted. “Today, drug scum no longer have limits […] These shootings are not happening in South America, they are happening in Rennes, in Poitiers, in this western France once known for its tranquility. We are at a tipping point and the choice we have today is between a general mobilization or the Mexicanization of the country.”he added.
