“Between 400 and 600 people involved”: A shooting leaves five seriously injured, including a 15-year-old teenager between life and death

Tragic Halloween evening. A shooting broke out this Thursday, October 31 around 10:45 p.m. leaving at least five seriously injured, including one with a life-threatening prognosis.

According to police sources, five individuals were seriously injured by gunfire during this shooting in Poitiers, in the Couronneries district. Among them, a 15-year-old teenager is in critical condition after being hit in the head.

Bruno Retailleau, declared on BFMTV-RMC this Friday morning that this shooting “turned into a brawl” between rival gangs involving “several hundred people, between 400 and 600”.

According to the Minister of the Interior, the facts are linked to drug trafficking. “It’s linked, I can confirm it,” he insisted.

“Mexicanization of the country”

“Today, drug scum no longer has limits (…) These shootings are not happening in South America, they are happening in Rennes, in Poitiers, in this western France once renowned for its tranquility “We are at a tipping point and the choice we have today is between a general mobilization or the Mexicanization of the country,” he added.

The Vienne prefecture confirmed the arrival of police reinforcements on the scene.
