Prices at the pump are significantly decreasing this Friday, November 1, in New Caledonian gas stations. A trend that has become rare over the last two years… To the point of (pleasantly) surprising resort customers.
Usually a cause of dissatisfaction for New Caledonian motorists, the traditional change in pump prices at the start of the month is this time turning in favor of consumers. This November 1, unleaded prices increase to 157.2 francs/liter (-8.6 francs compared to October). Same trend for diesel, now displayed at 137.2 francs/liter (-7.4 francs compared to October).
And if prices remain much higher than before the surge in prices in 2021, Caledonians can still rejoice in one fact: gasoline and diesel have not been so accessible since February 2022 on the Pebble.

A nice surprise this Friday for gas station customers. “I didn’t know, it’s good given the current crisis, it benefits us”smiles a road user. “As a professional, it helps me a little. It will have an impact on the month”adds a private driver who came to refuel. Other drivers welcome the drop, but temper their enthusiasm. “We need to know how long it will last, because the price review happens every month”underlines one of them.
The drop in prices, good news especially for young workers. “It’s nice because we don’t have a lot of money, we have to all contribute together. We need to lower the prices a little further”suggests a young driver, out with friends. “We had reduced travel because of prices until now. The reduction will perhaps allow us to go out more, it’s good for the wallet”concludes another young motorist.
