“It smelled like death”… Evicted, the tenant leaves a house filled with excrement, urine and rotten meat

They imagined that their ordeal was over. After a long legal battle, owners obtained the eviction of their tenant, who had not paid the rent for thirty-three months. He left the place at the beginning of August, says Bleu Poitou. But when they entered their property in La Chapelle-Viviers (Vienna) at the beginning of October, the sixty-year-old couple were in shock when they discovered the state of the house.

The tenant had left behind his furniture: a wardrobe, his television, a sofa, a table. Impossible to throw everything away. The owners were forced to rent a box at their own expense to store the belongings abandoned by the man since he had one month to come and collect them, as required by law.

“Traces of urine” and cat “droppings”

But the nightmare didn't end there. “The parquet floor was warped, there were scratches on the walls, traces of cat urine and even cat droppings,” described the owner. A window was broken. Bottles of beer, sauces, cans of paint, tools had been left here and there. Not to mention the rotten meat in the fridge. “It really smelled like death,” he added.

The costs for owners continue to increase, reports the media: 3,850 euros for cleaning, 1,500 for damage and 4,000 to pay to the bailiff. Impossible for the couple to pay such amounts. He appealed for volunteers to come and help him make the accommodation clean before he could move in.
