Cédric Hengbart spoke about this Saturday's meeting between the team he coaches, Blois Football 41, and the Girondins de Bordeaux, focusing in particular on the conditions in which this match will take place.
“So, you will realize it and the Girondins will realize it, is that we have a very, very, very complicated terrain on which to play football. It's going to be a lot of long balls, a lot of duels… to the team that will be able to gain the upper hand in this match. I can't guarantee a great football match on a technical level because the pitch doesn't allow it. Now, once again, we will have to adapt to the conditions. The further things go, the more the pitch will be degraded, so the more things will get bogged down in duels, in long balls. It risks being a bit of a tactical match, not on the tactical and technical side, but on the side of who will make the fewest mistakes, in quotes, and who will win the most duels. Now, we still try to play on this terrain but at a given moment, the result and the game mean that sometimes it is lost because the terrain does not allow it. We'll see, it will depend on the two teams. We had Dinan three weeks ago at our house. They only defended, only played long balls and they carried out their game plan very well. We didn't see good football because of that. If there are two teams trying to play, there can be some interesting things. But again, it’s very complicated.”
