On the occasion of their 25th anniversary, Edifico, the Brussels events agency, invites you to an enchanting masked ball on November 23. Immerse yourself in an immersive universe, where magic and originality are revealed to unearth the tradition of an event that had disappeared for too long.
Masquerade balls, famous evenings where participants dress up in costumes or disguises and wear masks, were very popular a long time ago. Real events, they were often organized to offer an evening worthy of a fairy tale, in prestigious places where prominent personalities of the time met.
The epic of the balls
Masked balls reached their peak during the Renaissance, between the 15th and 16th centuries. Very popular in Italy, they also took off in Europe, particularly in France, in the years that followed. These events appealed to high society, allowing the most influential personalities to disguise themselves and take on the identity of another person for an evening. The anonymity offered by an extravagant costume made masked balls events full of mystery and celebration.
As the name suggests, wearing a mask is mandatory, and removing it is normally prohibited, which contributes to the mysterious aspect throughout the evening. Among the most famous of the period were the Opera balls, created in 1715, which were held during the Paris carnival. In the 19th century, the event became a real social phenomenon in Europe and America. The aristocracy, then at its peak, considered the ball as a place of exchange where elegance, sumptuous disguises and social rivalries became one.
While contributing to a noble cause, come and enjoy a mysterious, exclusive and unique evening in the heart of Brussels.
Part of the profits from the evening will be donated to the Caring Hat association, founded by Fabienne Delvigne, which supports people affected by alopecia caused by serious illnesses.
Tickets are available from today for 125 euros.
