Assurancia wins an offensive match in Quebec

The day after a 3-1 defeat, Assurancia de Thetford went for a 7-4 victory on the road against the National in Quebec during the special evening in tribute to the late Bob Bissonnette. Head coach Bobby Baril has joined Pierre Pelletier in first place for the number of season victories in the North American Hockey League.

The first period ended tied 2-2 as Quebec first blacked the score sheet thanks to a goal from Maxime St-Cyr at 7:31. Maxime Lecours responds, down a man, at 8:47, with the help of Ouellet. At 16:37, Maxim Dufour restored the lead to the National 2-1, but, three minutes later, Maxime Lecours (4th) scored his second of the match on a pass from Gauthier. It was 2-2 after 20 minutes.

In the second period, Nicolas Ouellet scored his first goal in a Thetford uniform thanks to assists from Lecours and Leduc, on the power play, after only 66 seconds of play. Keven Veilleux leveled the score at 10:17 while the score remained 3-3 for the rest of the second period.

After only 70 seconds of play in the third period, Pierre-Maxime Poudrier (3rd) gave Thetford the lead with the help of Goulet and Gauthier. Then, Gabriel Lemieux (1st) increases his team’s lead to 9:18, helped by Goulet and Roy. Maxime St-Cyr comes to reduce the gap to 5-4 with 1:51 left in the match. However, Tyler Boivin (2nd), helped by Jordan-Ty Fournier, gives his team some fresh air to increase the lead to 6-4. Finally, Danick Gauthier (4th), in an empty net, seals the outcome of the match on passes from Boivin and Lemieux.

Francis Leclerc turned away 32 of the opponent’s 36 shots while Thetford bombarded Marc-Antoine Gélinas with 45 shots during the match.

DEFEAT AT HOME

Assurancia started its weekend with a defeat at home, while the Marquis de Jonquière left with a 3-1 victory. The 1,201 spectators present at the Mario Gosselin Center had to wait 24 minutes of play before seeing the first goal of the match. It was the visitors who scored first thanks to the Christian Ouellet goal. On the other hand, 72 seconds later, Tyler Boivin (1st) leveled the score with assists from Lecours and Lépine. With 61 seconds left in the second period, Joey Ratelle scored a goal for the Marquis, it was 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Then, only one goal was scored in the last twenty, that of Simon-Claude Blackburn in an empty net at 18:55, this one confirming Jonquière’s victory at the expense of Assurancia. The Marquis shot 37 times towards Francis Leclerc’s cage while Thetford made 28 shots at the opposing goalkeeper, Tristan Bérubé.

Assurancia’s next match will take place on Friday, November 1 at 8 p.m. in Thetford against Rivière-du-Loup.
