A few days after the media intervention by the Minister of the Interior, supporters of the Olympic Marseille will be under close surveillance during the flagship match of the 9th day of Ligue 1 (those of PSG are prohibited from traveling). Thursday, Bruno Retailleau spoke in favor of the temporary interruption of the match in the event of homophobic chants or remarks made in the stands, a measure already provided for by the regulations. His colleague, Minister of Sports, Gil Avérous, went further by raising the possibility of a definitive end to the match and a defeat on the green carpet for the home team.

In the event of a slip-up in the stands on Sunday, OM would therefore be exposed to serious sanctions. In a press release on its official website, the Marseille club called on its supporters to use common sense.
“All united behind OM. Sunday evening, the Orange Vélodrome will host OM-PSG. In line with recent government announcements, OM calls on its supporters to support their team by being faithful to what is the essence of the club and of Marseille: fervor, passion, solidarity, respect. Any insulting, discriminatory or homophobic chant or behavior could expose OM and its supporters to severe sanctions and disciplinary measures which would directly penalize them.
The club is firmly committed against any type of discrimination and counts on the unfailing support of each and every one of its supporters, so that Sunday's meeting against PSG and the following ones remain moments of celebration, passion and sharing. Go OM! »
