Yellow alert SMS rain-flood and thunderstorm from 10/25 to 10/26 at 11 p.m. – Weather alert – Natural risks – Risk prevention – Ecological transition, environment and risk prevention – State actions

Météo has issued a yellow level weather alert “meteorological situation to monitor” for the parameters “rain, floods” and “thunderstorms” from Friday October 25 to Saturday October 26, 2024 until at least 11 p.m.

Very active rainstorm lines are coming up from the Mediterranean and will cross the western coast this morning, evacuating in the middle of Friday afternoon. Under these storms, high rainfall intensity is expected: 30 to 40 mm in less than an hour, gusts of 70 to 80 km/h, and hail. Accumulations of 40 to 50, occasionally 70 mm are expected in the west of the island.

On the eastern coast, thunderstorms will form during the afternoon, in coastal areas, and remain active until the end of the night. Under these storms, hail, heavy rainfall and occasional wind gusts of 60 to 80 km/h are expected.

A temporary improvement is expected on Saturday during the day, before a stormy return across the entire island at the end of the day.

The Haute-Corse prefecture calls on the population to be extremely vigilant and reiterates the precautionary instructions:

• Do not enter, on foot or by car, on a submerged path,
• Respect the diversions put in place,
• Do not shelter under trees,
• Respect the instructions given by the security services,
• Avoid walks in the forest and outings in the mountains,
• In flood-prone areas, keep furniture out of water and monitor rising water levels,
• Do not walk along the banks of rivers located downstream of dams,
• Listen to the radio station France Bleu RCFM and France 3 Corse Via Stella,
• Finally, it is advisable to find out how the episode progresses:
