a fire devastates the home of journalist Elma Camara

Three houses, including that of Naby Elma Camara, journalist at Groupe Evasion Guinée, were ravaged by an electrical fire on Thursday in the Sonfonia district. No loss of human life but the damage was considerable.

Met this Friday, October 25 by our editorial staff, Elma Camara is still in shock. It was in the middle of reporting that the journalist said he was informed of the tragedy by his mother, in tears on the phone. The fire, which is believed to have started from a fan in the neighboring apartment located in the middle of the house, quickly spread to other buildings. According to him, it was thanks to the neighbors that some property was saved. “When my mother noticed smoke coming from the bedroom door, she rushed to alert. She opened the door to take my daughter inside. And my daughter was saved”, says Naby Elma Camara, still upset by the scene. “But nothing came out. Everything I’ve searched for over the last ten years, everything has gone to zero. Everything was reduced to ashes,” he adds.

Without housing, Naby Elma Camara and his family are today scattered. It is in this sense that he appeals to people of good will, particularly to the authorities. “In these critical moments, I need everyone’s help. My family is homeless, my children can no longer attend their classes even though their schooling for the entire year has already been paid. We spend most of our nights outside. I became homeless, homeless,” he expressed with emotion.
