Erik ten Hag provides update on ’s injury after stretcher incident against Fenerbahce

In a dramatic encounter on Thursday night, was carried off on a stretcher during Manchester United’s match with Fenerbahce in Istanbul, leaving fans and teammates worried. Red Devils coach Erik ten Hag has since provided an update, indicating that a full assessment of the Brazilian’s injury will take around 24 hours.

Antony was introduced as a replacement for Marcus Rashford as United searched for a crucial goal with the score at 1-1. However, his appearance was short-lived, as just 16 minutes later he had to receive medical attention after falling to the side of the pitch.

Initially, Antony appeared to be recovering and returned to the field, but he reported to the bench that he was having difficulty. Doctors quickly came to his aid, and a stretcher was finally called to the rescue. Ten Hag expressed his dismay at the situation, saying: “It’s really unfortunate for him. I have real compassion for him, as he has worked so hard in training. His performance in training training has been excellent and he has certainly earned the opportunity to play tonight. It is heartbreaking to see him leave so quickly. We hope the injury is not too serious; we will have more clarity in a day or two. .”

Although the precise nature of Antony’s injury remains unclear, he was seen leaving the stadium on crutches, with his left foot wrapped in a protective boot. This season the winger’s appearances have been limited, only starting a few games after falling down the pecking order. His most notable contribution was a goal in the crushing 7–0 victory over Barnsley in the League Cup.

Amad Diallo came on for Antony during injury time against Fenerbahce, sparking debate among fans regarding selection choices. Some have questioned why Diallo was not preferred in place of Rashford, particularly considering Noussair Mazraoui’s unusual role as ‘number 10’. In response to questions about the team’s composition, Ten Hag acknowledged Diallo’s impact, saying: “Amad has performed well, but we must also recognize Antony’s recent coaching efforts. His presence is always a threat in training, which is why I felt compelled to include him tonight Amad had his chances and worked hard, and I’m happy with his contributions Starting with four outside attackers. Europe can be intimidating, hence my tactical approach with Nous in this position.”
