Monday October 28, 2024, Gérard Depardieu will appear before the Paris criminal court for acts of sexual assault that he allegedly committed against two women during the filming of the film Green Shutters by director Jean Becker in 2021.
The day before, Sunday October 27, the channel BFMTV will broadcast a new issue of Red Line devoted to the legal cases in which the French actor is involved. During the documentary, from. many people will speak: journalists, witnesses, lawyers, alleged victims and friends of Gérard Depardieu including Josée Dayan.
There are many testimonies
The two women who accuse Gérard Depardieu of sexual assault are Sarah, 3rd assistant director and Amélie, decorator, on the 2021 set. With our colleagues from BFMTV, Anouk Grinberg, actress who plays in Green Shutterstestified. “I have witnessed verbal attacks. That is to say that all day long, on the set, it's an obese person talking about mold, dicks, sucking. The most disgusting thing is “is that we don't say anything and people laugh”. But Gérard Depardieu has always denied it. “Never, ever have I abused a woman. […] There has never been any coercion, violence or dispute between us. I have never raped anyone”, he wrote in a letter to Figaroconcerning the affair between him and another woman, Charlotte Arnould.
But there are numerous comments and denunciations concerning the behavior of Gérard Depardieu on the various film sets. “The filming with Depardieu is an outlaw space. He is the one who makes the law. And everyone complies.”. continued Anouck Grinberg.
There is also another great French actress who filmed with Gérard Depardieu and who denounced his actions but also those of the director, Maurice Pialat : Sophie Marceau. She starred alongside both men in the film Police in 1985.
Sophie Marceau: her filming with Gérard Depardieu on Police
A very young actress, only 18 years old, Sophie Marceau has just starred in Maurice Pialat's film. “Maurice, let things be clear between us. Angers, unhealthy relationships, all the perverse sadomasochistic nonsense, it’s not my thing”declared the young woman during an interview. Following this declaration, Gérard Depardieu treated him “stupid” on a television set. As for Maurice Pialat, he downright insulted him during a radio interview on Europe 1. “She's Marceau's little bitch, well when I say small, she's rather big. Now as I said yesterday on TF1, if I really deserved my reputation, I would have thrown my hand in her face.”
But it was only during the year 2024 that Sophie Marceau really explained what had happened on this set, almost forty years earlier. Speaking to Vogue magazine, she declared: At the time no one listened to me! I was the little devil, 'the big cunt' as Maurice Pialat and Gérard Depardieu had nicely said on TV. And it didn’t shock anyone! […] Gérard Depardieu, on Police, was a different story. He was elsewhere. I had known him on Fort Saganne, where he had been great. […] But he transformed into Mister Hyde on Police. It was a matter of who would cause the greatest chaos. He was very badly brought up, badly polite. He didn't rape me or hit me, but he made very inappropriate gestures. It was only provocation, humiliation, power grab. And all this under the pretext of laughing… Afterwards, I no longer wanted to film with him. Never. I found that he went beyond his limits but that the others who let him go beyond them too. Everyone was playing their game.”.
