AMD recently announced the launch of its new Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, scheduled for November 7. Separately, the semiconductor manufacturer has also applied price reductions to its Ryzen 9000 series of processors. These new initiatives mark an interesting turning point for the Zen 5 processor line, offering improved performance at a more affordable price.
Ryzen 7 9800X3D Launch Announcement
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is one of the most anticipated coprocessors in the Ryzen 9000 lineup. Recent details reveal that it will be among the first to hit retail locations. Other high-end models, such as those in the Ryzen 9 series, are expected to appear in early 2024.
Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager of the Computing and Graphics Division, commented on the launch with the words “X3D reimagined,” bringing a touch of anticipation for technology enthusiasts. Ryzen 7 9800X3D technical specifications include 8 hearts et 16 threadswith an L3 cache of 96 Mo and a base frequency of 4,70 GHz.
With a TDP of 120Wthe Ryzen 7 9800X3D represents a good balance between performance and energy efficiency. Additionally, it is already listed by some US sales sites, although exact prices remain to be confirmed. It is expected to be in the same price bracket as the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which was at 449 US dollars.
Ryzen 9000 Processor Price Reductions

New pricing for some of the models includes the Ryzen 9 9950X now available at 599 US dollars instead of 649and the Ryzen 9 9900X to 419 US dollars. We thus see an opportunity to improve the quality-price ratio for chips which have not received as warm a reception as the previous generation Ryzen 7000.
This price revision comes as AMD seeks to strengthen its position against the competition, particularly with the expected arrival of Intel Core Ultra 200S processors. Customers can also benefit from a game bundle including Space Marines 2 and Unknown9: Awakening with the purchase of select processors.
