Bakers for a day, kindergarteners made their own bread

On the eve of the All Saints’ Day holidays, Monday, October 14, the kindergarteners were delighted to find Joëlle, their retired Atsem, who showed them around her vegetable garden. Tuesday, the Grands Causses bakery welcomed children from the Marie-Rouanet nursery school accompanied by the educational team and a few parents.

Sophie, as an informed guide, explained to the children in the form of questions and answers everything that goes into making bread. The ingredients first: flour, water, salt and sourdough are mixed by the baker, this is kneading. Then he lets the dough rest. Then other operations are necessary. The shaped bread is placed in a large cabinet before baking it in a large oven.

The flour arrives in large bags, much larger than those used by moms or dads at home. The toddlers kneaded the cake dough under the watchful eye of Maël and Manu, the two bakers on duty. They witnessed the cooking and removal of these treats from the oven, of which they took a full bin offered by the establishment.
