POLITICS – From ministers who contradict each other to those who display animosities, the Barnier government is far from being one of unity. Forced to form a heterogeneous team – like the results of the legislative elections, Michel Barnier failed to surround himself with ministers united by the same objectives. The first month of its existence is proof of this, as you can see in the video at the top of the article.

It all started in his first week of life, when the Minister of Justice Didier Migaud and his colleague at the Interior Bruno Retailleau, clashed through the media, one on TF1, the other on 2, the first reminding the second in particular that “ that our justice is independent in our country and that this is essential in a democracy.”

Energy taxation has also been the subject of government cacophony, with the Minister of Ecology Agnès Pannier-Runacher evoking her wish to increase the gas tax for ecological purposes. An intention then refuted by the government spokesperson, then by the minister in charge of the Budget, Laurent Saint-Martin.

Threats of resignation

More broadly, on the budget, the Minister of Ecology also warned this Friday, October 18 on BFMTV: “We need a budget that is up to the situation and that is not the case today (…) Above all, I want to work to have the means for my action (…) if I do not have them not, I will draw conclusions”.

Minister of Justice Didier Migaud had also warned that he would not stay in government if the Justice budget was not improved. “But I trust the Prime Minister, who gave me assurances”he said on RTL.

Finally, it is on immigration that the government undoubtedly displays its deepest divisions. When the Minister of Health Geneviève Darrieussecq promised on franceinfo on October 4 that he “there is no question of touching State Medical Aid”, Bruno Retailleau explains that the device is “an encouragement to clandestinity. »

Unsurprisingly, the government is divided on the concept of immigration: “ not a chance » for the Minister of the Interior, it is on the contrary “ a necessity » for the Minister of Industry Marc Ferracci. A certain vision of government solidarity.
