There are only a few seconds left and, trailing 63-62, Ciney misses his last attempt but Antoine Balthazar’s hand manages to push the ball back into the ring for a victorious tip-in…

Just as Andenne came for victory three weeks ago at the last second, Ciney brings the same hell back to the stunned Belgraders.

Certainly the scenario is once again very cruel for the local team but as too often this season, the Belgraders took a few minutes to get into their match (2-7 in the 2nd). Mommer and Van Landschoot, however, managed to get their team going with a perfect tie at the end of the first quarter: 15-15.

In the second section, it is again the defenses which stand out on both sides and if the Cinaciens offer themselves more possibilities in attack and can count on Bojovic often in good shots, the difference remains meager in the scorer with despite everything a short lead for the visitors at rest: 30-33.

Well muzzled until then, Hucorne made 32-33 from the restart but Ciney took advantage of every opportunity to not only stay in front but widen a first small gap: 34-42 in the 22nd, then 38-49 in the 27th and finally 43- 52 per half hour.

Belgrade is battered but can then rely on the experience of Van Landschoot and Beca to gradually catch up and reignite the suspense: 52-54 in the 34th and 54-56 at the start of money time, while It’s true, Bojovic is on the bench for the first time since the start of the match. Mommer thus equalizes at 56-56, then gives his colors the lead at 57-56, and continues with a winning shot in the 38th which brings the crowd to its feet when the scoreboard indicates 61-58 in the 39th.

Joy extinguished just as quickly after a bomb from Bojovic beyond seven meters: 61-61. On a ball on the ground that several players try to snatch, Van Landschoot comes out with blood on his arch and it is in confusion and irritation that the game ends with the aforementioned scenario: 63-64 final score …
