The starting grid for the United States Grand Prix (updated)

Lando Norris will start from pole position for the United States Grand Prix alongside title rival Max Verstappen.

The two Ferraris will start just behind on the second row, Carlos Sainz third ahead of Charles Leclerc fourth.

Update : George Russell will start from the pit lane, Mercedes having been forced to break the parc ferme following his crash in Q3 (read more about this).

Thus, all drivers who qualified behind Russell gain a position. The first of them is Pierre Gasly who will start sixth, he who had achieved a very good performance in qualifying. Sergio Pérez, initially tenth, will therefore start ninth.

Lewis Hamilton will start in a very distant 17th position, two places better than his qualification thanks to the engine penalty suffered by Liam Lawson, and therefore also following the start from the pits of his teammate. No Mercedes will therefore be present in the top 16 on this grid.

Note that Guanyu Zhou, who received five engine penalties, will start 18th after having qualified… 20th.
