Homophobic chants heard at the Parc des Princes during the PSG – match

The Professional League on Sunday condemned the homophobic chants chanted by Parisian supporters on Saturday at the Parc des Princes during the Ligue 1 PSG – match and announced the referral to its disciplinary committee.

“The LFP condemns the homophobic chants heard during the Saint-Germain – RC Strasbourg meeting. These new discriminatory chants from Paris Saint-Germain supporters are unacceptable even though all of professional football has been working for several seasons to ban homophobic behavior and chants from stadiums,” the LFP said in a press release.

“Following these new homophobic chants, the LFP disciplinary committee will take up the elements,” added the body.

Saturday at the Parc des Princes, PSG supporters, mainly the Ultras from the Auteuil stand, resumed homophobic chants against OM for around ten minutes as the clasico against the great rival looms, on October 27 at the Vélodrome. .

These slogans were taken up by a large part of the Parc des Princes and the stadium announcer intervened twice to stop them.

Last season, for these same facts, PSG was sanctioned by the LFP disciplinary committee which ordered the closure of the Auteuil stand for one final match and one suspended match.

The Minister of Sports Gil Avérous and the Secretary of State for Citizenship and the Fight against Discrimination Othman Nasrou also “firmly condemned” these homophobic songs “which have no place on the occasion of a sporting event and are detrimental to the values promoted by sport,” they said in a press release.

“The government will be uncompromising in the fight against all forms of discrimination, this is an issue of citizenship and the defense of republican principles,” continued the ministers who “will speak at the beginning of the week with the president of the LFP in order to discuss additional measures that can be deployed to prevent the recurrence of such homophobic acts.”
