Dim 20/10/2024 — It’s not just a restyling.
Citroën was at the auto show with a restyled version of its C4. Next to the double chevron, the stylists chose to put double-line lights, at the front and at the rear. This shows that they follow ideas, but not that they are good designers. From many angles, the result seems tortured, but it gives the car a facelift, and that’s the most important thing. On the engine side, there are two important changes. The first is that diesel is disappearing. Which is perhaps an error, because this mechanism is proven, it continues on other Stellantis models, and it should not have cost much to keep it in the catalog, but the brand with the chevrons has visibly decided to simplify its range. This is also reflected in the unexpected disappearance of the mechanical gearbox versions.
Four engines are on the menu. Two 48-volt hybrids, with the well-known 1.2-liter 3-cylinder, with either 100 hp and 205 Nm of torque, or 136 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The same engine we tried in the C5 Aircross. There are then 2 electric versions, which is also a little surprise, because the more powerful one could have replaced the less powerful one, but no. We therefore have the first ë-C4 with a 136 hp engine and a 50 kWh battery, and above that the one with a 156 hp engine and a 54 kWh battery. There is only €1000 difference between the two, so we recommend taking the more powerful one.
Will this price drop place the Citroën ë-C4 at the top of the electrics in its segment?
