Unwearying, David Holston scores the winning shot for at JL Bourg!

Despite his 38 springs, David Holston is still capable of great things on the basketball court. We had no doubt about it, but the playmaker, who is currently in his 9th season in Côte d’Or, wanted to remind us again this Saturday, October 19. After overtime, he offered a great victory to JDA on the floor of JL Bourg with a 3-point shot one second from the buzzer (88-91, ap).

Dijon wins… with 4 players sent off!

However, JDA Dijon thought it had seen its hopes of victory disappear at Ékinox during the 3rd quarter. In front at the break (39-41), the Dijonnais scuttled themselves in this 3rd ten-minute period. Notably conceding a 22-7, Laurent Legname’s players let JL Bourg regain control of operations at the start of the last quarter (64-53). Dijon nevertheless managed to regain their senses, to come back and equalize in the last minute of regulation time (80-80).

And while the expulsions due to five fouls had already followed one another in the 4th quarter, with Christian Sengfelderunstoppable at the start of the match (11 pts in QT1, 16 in the end), and Gavin Wareforced desertions for five offenses continued. Author of the free throws for the equalizer, Marquis McDuffie (, and Joshua Obiesie, also had to leave their partners. So, in this context, Dijon no longer had many weapons at its disposal: Axel Julienin difficulty in this meeting (0 points at 0/4 on shots, and 7 assists for 7 lost balls), for the former’s blow against his former team, or David Holstonfor yet another stroke of genius. It is this 2nd option which was chosen by Laurent Legname and which was the right one to win against JL Bourg (88-91, ap), despite the equalizer from free throws by Kevin Kokila a few seconds earlier.

“Everything was against us”

JDA Dijon therefore achieved an almost unexpected success given the context. Hugely sanctioned, to the point of seeing 4 players forced to sit on the bench for 5 fouls, Joan of Arc allowed 47 free throws to be taken in Bourg-en-Bresse, for 37 successes. “Everything was against us and despite this the players found the necessary resources to win”savored Laurent Legname with the Public Good.

Despite this, the Burgundian team was able to hang on, thanks in particular to the extreme Burgian clumsiness at 2 points (15/39 or 38% success), like its scorer Xavier Castaneda (14 points but 2/8 at 2 points). As well as his maestro David Holstonauthor of a very complete performance (24 points at 9/17 on shots including 4/9 at 3-points, and 11 assists for 29 evaluation), completed by a new signature of which he has the secret.
