The microbrewery “L’Orge Folle” wins the gold medal with its blond beer

L’Orge Folle, a microbrewery created in June 2017 by the dynamic Nicolas Fort, in his native village in Rimont, continues to progress.

With its bar open since August 2022, it regularly organizes concerts and darts evenings, with naturally tasting beers, but also tapas. He is accompanied by his collaborator Artur Railland.

Recently, they participated for the first time in the “Aurignac sous presse” festival and, above all, they won the gold medal for the “L’Inconsciente” blonde beer.

Since 2017, brewers participating in the event must be present and submit their beers to the official Aurignac draft beer competition. An informed jury, composed exclusively of the twelve selected brewers and beer experts from the association (former brewers and informed members), evaluates the proposed samples live, using an application developed for the occasion.

Thirty-three beers were therefore presented in three categories: blonde (12), white (12) and Neipa (9) and were tasted blind during a session on Saturday morning. Neipa, or New England IPA, is a very recent style of IPA which has the particularity of highlighting the aroma of hops.
The evaluation criteria are organoleptic (appearance, color, smell, taste).

Each judge recorded their assessments directly on a networked computer. The results were thus available immediately after the last judge had passed. The diplomas awarded for each of the beer categories were designated as the “Gold Medal in the Official Aurignac Pressurized Beer Competition 2024”.

Congratulations to Nicolas Fort for this great recognition. Still in the dynamic and development of his business, he has plans to extend his premises opposite the brewery. A great project in progress.

The program for the month of November: the Orge Folle bar reopens its taps and offers you, on November 9, a Cajun music concert with the Tit Bayou group, and on November 23, a quiz evening (general culture, Ariège and beers).
