Match: Why PSG/ has everything to be the most spectacular match of the Ligue 1 season

Although being played without several major players on either side, PSG/ will pit two of the most spectacular teams of the season against each other: almost no team generates more goals in matches than or Racing.

A PSG/Strasbourg rarely thrills Parisian supporters, especially a few days before a week which will offer a great Champions League poster with PSG/PSV and a top-of-the-table Classic in . However, the evening match could well offer a particularly spectacular encounter, even if it comes after an international break where the squads of both camps have been scattered across the four corners of the planet.

Three goals per match on average for PSG, and even four at home

PSG often puts on a great show at home and has already scored 12 goals in just 3 games at the Parc des Princes, still an average of four. Paris also offers the same attack in the championship with 21 goals scored in 7 days, or exactly three per match on average. Knowing that Luis Enrique’s team also concedes almost a goal per match, this means that there have been a total of 27 goals scored in seven matches, or almost four on average per match!

At the level of Ligue 1, almost no team generates as many goals per match as PSG, the only exception being with its 8 goals scored for 21 conceded, or 29 in total. PSG/Montpellier had also resulted in a… 6-0 for Paris, a great spectacle on the field even if the MHSC had not offered much offensively, if nothing.

Strasbourg looking forward

But Strasbourg is not left out either when it comes to offering something attractive and Alsatian supporters are the first to say it: this Racing is attractive and very much alive on the pitch. Boosted by the significant resources of its new shareholder BlueCo which allowed it to recruit some great talents, the Racingmen coached by the offensive Liam Rosenior offer forward-looking football and this can be seen in the figures.

Strasbourg scored 14 goals, an average of two per match, which is as many as Monaco or . Only Paris (21 goals), OM (16) and (15) have scored more but the Aiglons scored half in a match against Saint-Etienne (8-0). Except that Racing also concedes a lot, with already 12 goals conceded in just 7 matches (1.71 average). In other words, Strasbourg scores a lot but also concedes quite a bit.

This PSG/Strasbourg will therefore pit the 2nd most spectacular team in the championship against the 3rd, with respectively 27 and 26 goals generated in seven matches. Enough to imagine a beautiful spectacle at the Parc des Princes. And as if that were not enough, Racing will present itself with no less than three usual starters in defense who will be absent: Guela Doué and Ismaël Doukouré are suspended, Saïdou Sow returned too late from the selection…
