MotoGP, Martin wins the sprint, horrible accident for Bezzecchi, Zarco crash – ranking – Le Mag Sport Auto

Jorge Martin won with ease at Phillip Island, in the 2024 MotoGP Australian Grand Prix. Behind, Francesco Bagnaia was not able to limit the damage as he should have done, overwhelmed by Marc Marquez, second in the race and even, by his teammate, Enéa Bastianini, P3 in this sprint.

MotoGP: not the same Saturday as in 2023, for JZ5…

At the start of the MotoGP sprint, Jorge Martin mastered his subject, as often, by retaining control after his pole position. Conversely, unusually, Marc Marquez completely missed out, immediately losing several positions. For his part, Francesco Bagaia gained a place then a second, a few laps later. On the French side, it should be noted that Johann Zarco made a good start by gaining a place.

Unfortunately, after brilliantly overtaking Luca Marini to gain twelfth place, the tricolor made a mistake and fell back to sixteenth position. Before, once again, moving up, overtaking Aleix Espargaro then Luca Marini, with great ease. For his part, Fabio Quartararo was vegetating around eighteenth place. Then, 8 laps from the goal, JZ5 finally ended up falling. Last year, at this time, he tasted the champagne of victory…

At the front, Jorge Martin was moving along, calmly installed in the leader’s chair, while his great rival was gradually losing places and therefore important points. At the same time, Jack Miller fell in front of the public, a few laps after Alex Marquez, who also made a mistake. Another crash, that of Pedro Acosta, again! 3 rounds from the end. 24th fall of the season for the Tech3 driver, record holder of the year in this area.

And one lap later, a terrible collision occurred, between Marco Bezzecchi and Maverick Vinalès. The Italian collides with the Spaniard with great violence…Brad Binder also falls.
