is on the rise

New coach, territorial club cooperation… the AEL section has introduced new developments since the start of the school year.

It has already been almost two months since the AEL basketball section returned to the baskets with two big new features: the establishment of a CTC (territorial club cooperation) with Saint-Vaury, for certain teams, and the the contribution of a “Zébulon” coach.

It was Sylvie Aubaisle, the co-president of the section along with Gilles Couegnas, who nicknamed Vincent Lornac like that. For younger children, Zébulon appeared in the cartoon Pollux in the form of a spring-loaded devil and all you had to do was pronounce his name once for him to appear. “He will intervene in the different categories of young people to specifically work on fundamentals such as double-stepping, passing and shooting to those who need strengthening. He will come at the request of the coach. »

One month and already a first assessment to draw and some prospects to announce. “For the little ones, the baby basket is in full swing. We have a lot of children born in 2021 and we mainly do motor skills, a little basketball but we learn to live together, other than at school. We have adapted equipment and the sessions last 45 minutes, in front of parents who wish. There will obviously be no competition but we will organize special activities for Christmas or Easter. »

The U7, U9 and U11 categories are also well stocked. No worries overall among the young people even if the number of licensees has not yet reached the level of last season: “There are always latecomers. What’s also good is that we have two U13 teams, one U15 boys and two U18 teams.”

Among seniors, two words predominate: patience and prudence. “With the integration of friends from Saint-Vaury, the girls will aim to remain in R2. For boys who are going down, is it really wise to want to go back up straight away? We’ll see, but there are a lot of them in training, which is very positive. »
