Isabelle Huppertwinner of the Light Prize 2024 : a memorable evening dedicated to cinema and emotions.
It was in a packed room bathed in emotion that the award ceremony took place on Friday October 18. Light Prize 2024 has Isabelle Huppert. A highlight of the 16th edition of the Lumière Festival 2024, celebrating an exemplary career and a filmography that crosses the ages and borders of cinema. At 7:40 p.m., under the first notes of the essential Gold Ecstasythe room held its breath as the distinguished guests made their entrance, including Sandrine Kiberlain, Anthony Delon, James Franco and the singer Camélia Jordana.
At 7:53 p.m., the audience is jubilant as Isabelle Huppert enters the stage, radiant in a gray sequinned dress. Accompanied by notes from Crazy nightsone of her favorite songs, she comes forward with the discreet assurance that characterizes her. The prestigious Light Prize given to him by Noémie Merlant and the Mexican director Alfonso Cuarontwo figures of international cinema who did not fail to salute the talent and elegance of the actress. This moment marks Isabelle Huppert as the fourth woman to receive this prize, after Catherine Deneuve (2016), Jane Fonda (2018) et Jane Campion (2021)
A vibrant artistic tribute

A festival worthy of the actress’ talent
The Light Festivalwhich is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has always paid homage to the great figures of cinema. And this edition is no exception with a retrospective dedicated to Isabelle Huppert, including some of her most notable films, such as The Pianist, The Ceremony, Violette Nozière et Elle. Earlier in the day, the actress also took part in a masterclass au Célestins Theaterwhere she delivered herself with disarming humility and sincerity, sharing anecdotes about her career and her relationship with art.
On this October evening, Isabelle Huppert was, once again, living up to his status as a living legend of cinema. His thank you speech, full of modesty, touched the audience: “This award is a tribute to all those with whom I have worked, and I share it with them”. An evening where cinema, music and emotion united to pay tribute to one of the most prolific and influential actresses of our time.
The future of this festival seems just as promising as that of Huppert, while the Light Festival continues to celebrate world cinema and pay tribute to the greatest figures in the history of the seventh art.
