The Town of Sablé-sur- decided to launch two taverns this year. The one located at the port, during the summer periodto closed end of September. It is therefore time to take stock.

Last spring, the municipality announced the opening of two taverns, representing an investment of 150 000 euros for the municipality.

One is open every Saturday morning, on the Republic Squareduring the market. The other welcomed customers, on the platforms near the room Théophile Plé et of Notre-Dame churchof July 4 to September 29, 2024.

A positive outcome for the port tavern

This year, following a call for applications, it is Vincent Pérezat the head of bar-brasserie Le Dauphinwhich was retained to ensure the management of the guinguette Plaisancefor the 2024 season.

The tavern jury commission met to take stock of the past season.

Pour Adrien Le Dréau, deputy mayor of Sablé, in charge of commerceet Emilie Gutierrezbusiness manager, the results are rather good.

In July and August, the tavern was open 7 days a week (it closed on rainy days). Over this period, “we had at least 200 people every day,” informs Adrien Le Dréau.

A satisfaction for the elected official who recalls that the objective was to “bring back a little flow to the city center, so that people can reclaim the places in the city center.

The choice to install the tavern at the port proved to be judicious, according to the municipality.

“We really liked the place”

The location, with the Sarthe nearby and the castle just opposite, really appealed.

Another reason for satisfaction, “we have not had any excesses to observe”, points out Adrien Le Dréau.

The only downside is the short season, since the tavern only opened in July and the weather was changeable.

A new call for applications

After this trial run, the port tavern will have its due in the new season. A new call for applications to manage the tavern will be launched, a priori, at the beginning of 2025.

If he wishes to run again Vincent Pérez “will not be a priority”, indicates Adrien Le Dréau.

Areas for improvement are open for next year. The objective will be in particular “to open earlier in the season and to develop the entertainment side a little more”, aims Émilie Gutierrez. Adrien Le Dréau also wants to strengthen “visibility”.

New features could be implemented in consultation with the manager who will be chosen.

The catering section, which was limited to aperitif platters, could expand somewhat in July and August. The possibility of organizing a brunch on Sunday morning is also mentioned.
