In the night of Thursday October 3 to Friday October 4a distributor of local products in Saint-Marcel (Eure) was set on fire. Around 1 a.m., an individual violently attacked the Stable of Producers, offering local and regional products for sale located on rue Louis-Blériot. A man actually broke multiple windows of the premises before setting it on fire. He also damaged the honey distributor located near the chalet.

The distributor had been installed in 2021 by the managers of the Ferme de l’Ecoufle, distraught after the incident.

“We had installed two surveillance cameras. When I turned on my cell phone, I received an alert. My partner (Grégory Pichou, co-manager of the farm, Editor’s note) immediately went to the scene. Fortunately it was a little damp, which prevented the fire from spreading. »

He tries to escape

The individual, a young man 17 ans, was arrested Monday October 7 around 2 a.m. by the law enforcementwhile he was busy around vehicles parked under the Pont Clémenceau parking lot in Vernon.

In police custodyhis clothing made it possible to discover that he was the author of the fire that occurred at the producers’ chalet in Saint-Marcel.

Placed in a home

During his hearing, the young man, placed in a home located on rue des Écuries des Gardes, immediately admitted the facts.

“In Saint-Marcel, he wanted to set fire to the cameras to cover his tracks,” underlines the Vernon police station.

During the search of his room, numerous objects were found: pots of honey or cider vinegar from the producers’ chalet, but also identity papers and balls of wool… from other thefts committed by the young man.

Six flights to his credit

“One thing led to another, and this allowed us to elucidate six trailer thefts committed between September 12 and October 5. »

At the end of his police custody, he was brought before the Évreux judicial court and presented to a children’s judge.
