When will this aid be paid and how much can you claim?

This is a boost awaited by many French people as the end-of-year holidays approach. This year again, the Christmas bonus will be paid to eligible households around December 15. Created in 1998, this aid has benefited 2.3 million people in 2023. It is distributed by family allowance funds (CAF), the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) or Travail to people with modest incomes.

Are you entitled to the Christmas bonus?

To be entitled to this bonus, you must receive one of the following social benefits: the Active Solidarity Income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS), the retirement equivalent allowance (AER), Pôle emploi training remuneration (RFPE, RSFP/RPS) in the event that you received the Specific Solidarity Allowance (ASS) the day before you start training, or even assistance with the creation and resumption of business for ASS beneficiaries (ACRE-ASS).

You do not need to take any action, the amount will be paid to you automatically by transfer. France Travail grants a single amount which amounts to €152.45, with the exception of Mayotte where it is €76.22.

What are the amounts of the Christmas bonus?

For the premium paid by the Caf or the MSA, the amount varies depending on the composition of the household. It reaches €152.45 for a single person without children, €228.67 for a couple without children or a single person with one child, €274.41 for a couple with one child or a single person with 2 children and 320, €14 for a couple with 2 children. The aid then increases by €60.98 for each additional child.

In 2023, the government decided to increase the amount of the Christmas bonus granted to single-parent families by 35%. We do not yet know whether this exceptional measure will be renewed this year. As a reminder, this assistance is tax-free.
