There are numbers that don’t lie. Since the launch of the show “Les Grandes Gueules” on August 30, 2004 on RMC around a duo of seasoned forties, Alain Marschall from Nice and his friend Olivier Truchot, the “GG” have supported more than 6,000 shows, 5,000 guests, 18,000 hours of live broadcast on the radio but also on television for 8 years. With not far from 59 “GG”, a sort of member of the “Grosses Têtes” version of “Grandes Geules”, the radio show has become the pulse of a certain France, at least a form of spokesperson.
So to properly celebrate this, RMC Story is offering, this Thursday, a special live show, in prime time, and simultaneously on RMC for an exceptional change of slots (the show is usually broadcast every day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.). To properly surround this special day, the entire RMC channel will be live on RMC Story, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Un two sans me
But how can we explain such a success since this twentieth anniversary is also accompanied by an event book, available on November 7 (L’Archipel editions)? “This format did not exist in 2004, rewinds Olivier Truchot. A three-hour live broadcast, with listeners who become regular reviewers of the show, is something new.”.
“A big mouth is a character, someone who has character, who is on the air as he is in life. We organized castings of listeners, some were spotted on social networks”continues Alain Marschall.
The duo is proud to put on the air “GG” who, on paper, should never have met in real life – the lawyer Charles Consigny and the farmer Didier Giraud – while they can debate , every day, on the airwaves of the program around societal and current issues. A show which, however, rarely slips up. “It’s our job to be attentive, to brief, to speak, we have had difficult debates, particularly around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but overall it is under control even if the debate is more difficult today today, with more tension, and social networks don’t help but, despite everything, we keep in control”explains Olivier Truchot.
Friends in life – “we spend more time together than with our wives”laughs Alain Marschall – the two men are very complementary on the air. Marschall is a huge “Anchorman” [présentateur vedette qui reste en plateau, ndlr] according to his friend when Truchot appears as a formidable “debater”. “There is no ego between us, we were at the start of RMC, we started together on this channel at a time in our careers when we already had a bit of baggage. We never got tired because the show changed time slots three times, it also became a television show, which helps break the routine. We started under Jacques Chirac and 20 years later, we are still here, 5th podcast in France. is our baby somewhere”Lance Marshal.
The “GG” have become a brand, this is undoubtedly the greatest success of the duo. A brand that the two men would like to leave in good hands when they are called to do something else or simply enjoy life. “The brand is stronger than us, someone will have to take up the torch”underlines Truchot. But not yet yet. Now, time for the party.
