State services and emergency services are fully mobilized to ensure the safety of the department’s populations.

336 people were involved in relief operations and the 150 firefighters involved carried out 377 interventions, including 5 rescues and 51 safety measures. No injuries were reported.

The department remains placed on orange RAIN FLOOD vigilance and red FLOOD vigilance. It remains requested toavoid travel no imperatives and stay at home.

Un prefectural decree has been issued requesting closure for tomorrow’s day, schools and banning collective passenger transport (including school transport) in 39 municipalities in the department affected by this episode.

Update at 9:00 p.m.:

Following heavy rain overnight which continues, Météo has placed the Loire department on alert red RAW andorange RAIN FLOOD. Heavy rain is expected until midnight.

This meteorological episode continues into the evening

A prefectural decree ordered the closure of schools in 39 municipalities in the department for the day of Friday. Collective passenger transport is prohibited in these same municipalities. Local elected officials in municipalities not targeted by the decree remain able to order the closure of their educational establishments for tomorrow..

The inhabitants of the valley of Gier who wish to leave their home to take shelter can be welcomed at the Roger Rivière room: a meeting point is set at the Rive-de-Gier station square. A bus will then take them to the reception center.

Schools in the Pilat massif must close at 5 p.m. to allow people to return home before the end of the calm scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

In fact, sustained rain of 10 to 20 mm/h is expected until 2 p.m. A slight lull is expected between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (5 to 10 mm/h). After 6:00 p.m., a resumption of stormy rain is expected across the entire department (between 10 and 20 mm/h).

Many roads are currently closed: the D503 (at Lupé), the 1086 at the entrance to Chavanay, the D7 (between Pélussin and Chavanay), the D62.

The municipalities of Châteauneuf, Rive-de-Gier, Farnay, Saint-Paul-en-Jarez and Lorette are particularly affected by this event.

Flooding and overflows are expected in Rive-de-Gier with a peak expected in the middle of the night.

The level of Furan couldincrease rapidly with possible overflows at the end of the day at the level of Center Deux shopping center. The Furan is under surveillance without any overflow being observed at present.

  • The peak of the floodu river Loire is expected after 9 p.m. in the downstream sector of the Grangent dam.
