level flood vigilance activation on the Rhône – October – 2024 – Press Releases – Press room – News

The Grand Delta flood forecasting service activated the vigilance level on the RHÔNE today at 12:00 p.m.

A flood of Cevennes rivers is still in progress. By propagation downstream, a progressive increase in flow rates has been observed on the Rhône since last night, the peak of which is expected around 9 p.m. in the north of , and around 1 a.m. in .

The risks of flooding are particularly marked in Avignon and the north of the department, in particular in Lapalud, Mondragon, Lamotte-du-Rhône and Caderousse. These municipalities have triggered their municipal protection plan (PCS).

In terms of traffic, at this stage, the alleys of Oulle in the commune of Avignon will be completely closed to traffic around 6 p.m., as well as the Route du Dr Pons and the Pont de l’Europe exit ramps.

Roads may already be cut from time to time in the north of the department, around the municipalities affected by the floods.

The departmental operational center was activated in standby mode today at 4:00 p.m.

Finally, Météo is maintaining the Vaucluse department on a YELLOW level weather alert for storms and rain-flooding today until the evening. Thunderstorms, accompanied by strong gusts of wind and locally significant accumulations of rain, are expected.
